Welcome to another Sunday Sweets!
I decided to try my hand at puff pastry this week! I'd call this a success, though I will definitely be making again (a lot) to try and perfect! (Credit to linked article).
Check out my Instagram to see the process and to catch future Sunday Sweets!
Ingredients:
- 1 1.4 cups unsalted butter
- 1/2 cold water
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon salt
Directions:
- Whisk flour and salt in bowl
- Slice cold butter into 1/4" thick pieces
- Add butter to flour and toss to coat
- Add cold water to flour and butter and mix until you have a thick dough
- Take ball of dough, press down into a disk, wrap in plastic wrap, and chill in fridge for 1 hour
- Remove from fridge, flour area, roll dough into a rough rectangle
- Fold the dough into thirds, roll again, and repeat (at least 3 times, this creates the layers)
- Wrap dough in plastic wrap and chill in fridge for two hours or overnight
*you can also freeze the dough until you need; make sure to wrap tightly
- When ready to bake, take out dough and roll to desired thickness, depending on what you decide to make with your pastry
- Preheat oven to 400 and bake for 25-30 minutes
However you decided to enjoy your pastry, I'm sure it was delicious!
Have a sweet Sunday!
